Introduction: McGregor Clan: Scottish Maroons.
The McGregor Clan, a unique group within the Scottish people, identifies as ethnically African or Maroon. This term is often associated with the cultural identity of Scottish Maroons, referring to those of African and African-Caribbean descent. This group, also known as Afro-Scottish or Maroon Scottish, constitutes approximately 0.7 percent of Scotland's total population.
The story of the McGregor Clan is one of resilience and endurance amidst dire circumstances. Historically referred to as the Children of the Mist, Clan McGregor suffered greatly during two centuries of Proscription, which prohibited male McGregors from using their surname, owning property, or even possessing a knife. They were hunted down and often tortured or executed, particularly by the Campbells. Despite these hardships, many McGregors sought refuge in Britain and England due to the fear of persecution. Those who fled took their wealth to Britain, where they established businesses, while their descendants ventured into the Caribbean islands, particularly Atlantis Nyan-Ko-Pong Xaymaca (Jamaica). Today, the McGregor name thrives in England, Canada, and the USA.
Thanks to the outlaw Rob Roy McGregor, who captured the public's imagination, the McGregor Clan has persevered through adversity.
The term clan derives from the Gaelic word for children. However, membership in a clan did not necessarily mean a direct familial link to the chief. Those who served the clan would adopt the surname, while others seeking protection would pledge allegiance to the chief, embracing the clan name. They were unified in their commitment, often living and dying in service to their clan. Under Scots law today, anyone sharing the McGregor surname is automatically considered part of this Sovereign and Royal Clan.
MCGREGOR CLAN WORLD-WIDE UNALIENABLE RIGHTS
The McGregor Clan, representing the Indigenous rights of the Natives of Atlantis Nyan-Ko-Pong Xaymaca (Jamaica), North America, and Scotland, is dedicated to promoting and protecting universally recognized human rights and fundamental political freedoms. We affirm our God-given right to exercise Indigenous autonomy as expressed in the UN General Assembly's adoption of the 2007 United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This declaration states that “All peoples have the right of self-determination,” allowing us to determine our political status and pursue our economic, social, and cultural development free from outside interference. This right is enshrined in Article I of the Charter of the United Nations, which underscores the importance of friendly relations and peace among states. It is recognized in General Assembly Resolution 1514, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, both effective since 1976. Additionally, it is affirmed in various international documents, including the Declaration of Principles of International Law adopted by the UN in 1970, the Helsinki Final Act of 1975, and the African Charter of Human and Peoples' Rights of 1981. Consequently, as McGregor Clan Maroons, we assert our right to freely choose our political status.
